phpBB: Does Deleting Threads Remove Data From DB?

On another forum which I frequent an admin accidentally deleted a thread through the GUI. I’m not familiar with the inner workings of phpBB so thought I would ask here whether that data is recoverable or still exists in the db. Normally it wouldn’t be a big deal but the thread in question is one that has been around for over 5 years with a collection of member photos and captions. It would be nice if it could be restored.
